One important thing to know about Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is that even while it sits on the waterfront of Sturgeon Bay, it does not have a sandy beach. If you want a private, sandy, swimmable beach, you will need to travel to a public beach, or choose a hotel with a private beach like Bay Breeze Resort.
Location
Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is located in one of the most scenic spots in Door County. The facilities take full advantage of this location, with every unit in the main building having a water view. However, some visitors might appreciate having a location closer to town.
Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is located on Bayshore Drive, north of the City of Sturgeon Bay. It is right on the shores of the bay of Sturgeon Bay. Sturgeon Bay is a bay off of Green Bay, and Green Bay is a bay off of Lake Michigan.
Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is oriented so that it looks westward over the bay of Sturgeon Bay. That means that it gets an amazing view of sunsets over the bay. Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is deservedly proud of their sunsets.
Their location is great for views, but some visitors might appreciate a different setting. Since it is out in the country, Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort is not walkable to restaurants or attractions.
Also, even though it is out in the country, it is not on a large parcel. Some resorts in Door County have acres and acres of property, meaning that you can roam and explore in a park-like setting. That is not the case with Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort.
That is why I gave Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort 4.5 stars out of 5 for location. It’s a lovely spot, but some visitors might be more pleased with another property.

Beautiful views from every room, all with balconies. Water access and free kayaks to borrow. Amazing sunsets. You are minutes from everything. Walmart, Nightengale, and downtown Sturgeon Bay. Also close to the Quarry, boat launch and good fishing.

All-in-all Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort offers great facilities and amenities. However, there are a few amenities that other resorts in the area have that are missing here, like a private sand beach and tennis courts. That’s why we gave Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort 4 out of 5 stars for facilities and amenities.
Accommodations
Westwood Shores Resort offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites. In addition to the private, covered balconies, all suites have fully equipped kitchens with full-size appliances and gas log fireplaces. The two-bedroom suites have two bathrooms with separate shows and whirlpool tubs.
Couples will appreciate the romantic, covered balconies. Families will enjoy having separate bedrooms to give each other private sleeping quarters.
Suite was nice, small bedroom but good sized main area with fully stocked kitchen. Beautiful views from every room, all with balconies.

Water access and free kayaks to borrow. The pool and sauna are nice. Had an issue with sound on some of the tv channels. The snack/store area was lacking and there’s no restaurant on site.

Prices will vary throughout the year and will be most expensive in the prime tourist season. But, prices are fair and comparable to the rest of the Door County market.
