A.J. Dillon is affectionately known to football fans by the nickname of “Quadzilla” for his enormous quads. But, he’s known by another nickname in a small Wisconsin community: Mayor.
Here’s how that happened . . .

Toonen’s Family Owns a Second Home in Door County, Wisconsin
A popular retreat for many people in Green Bay is nearby Door County. Door County sits on a rugged peninsula jutting into Lake Michigan, separating the bay of Green Bay from the larger body of Lake Michigan. It is known for its captivating scenery, stunning waterscapes, and quaint yet quirky culture.
Door County fulfilled Dillon’s love for the water and nature.
Dillon Became an Unofficial Ambassador for Door County
A.J. Dillon made no secret about his love for Door County, even saying that he prefers swimming in Green Bay over swimming in the ocean. He makes frequent trips to Door County and has become a regular at several Door County restaurants and attractions.
Dillon Recognized as Honorary Mayor of Door County
Recognizing Dillon’s advocacy for the county, the area’s tourism board awarded Dillon the key to the county and gave him the title of Honorary Mayor.
That was really a stupid / inane thing for “Door County” to do. To reward a football player for liking your county/ vacation spot. So many beautiful residents and visitors to door. Just really dumb.
Interesting thoughts. I suppose the thinking was that it was inexpensive publicity.
