Forestville, WI — A local congregation with deep roots in Door County is preparing to celebrate a remarkable milestone. Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville will mark its 150th anniversary with a day of festivities on Sunday, May 18, 2025, and the entire community is invited to join.

The celebration will begin at 10:00 AM with a Festival Worship Service at the church, located at 316 W. Main Street, Forestville, WI 54213. The special service will feature guest preacher Rev. Dr. John Wohlrabe, the Great Lakes Regional Vice President of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.
Following worship, guests can enjoy a broasted chicken dinner catered by Moe’s Corners. Dinner will be served at 11:30 AM, and reservations are requested in advance through the church.
The afternoon will continue with live music from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, as local favorite Modern Day Drifters takes the stage. Refreshments and beverages will be available, with proceeds benefiting Saint Peter’s Youth Group.
Founded in August 1875, Saint Peter’s has been a mainstay of faith and service in the area for a century and a half. Pastor Christopher Jackson reflected on the church’s legacy, saying, “Saint Peter’s Lutheran Church has been a cornerstone for the Door County community for 150 years. Our foundation is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That foundation has stood the test of time, and we are confident in our future. Saint Peter’s welcomes you to celebrate with us.”
Throughout its history, the church has played a pivotal role in the region. It helped establish Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay and once operated its own parochial school. The congregation also counts among its past members individuals such as Rev. Daniel Brockhopp, former Dean of Chapel at Valparaiso University, and Ryan Luhrs, a recognized scholar in church music.
Today, Saint Peter’s continues to serve through vibrant youth ministries, annual mission trips, and outreach programs that include bilingual worship services and ESL classes for Latino farm workers in the area.
