Civil War Encampment
June 14 @ 9:00 am – June 15 @ 3:00 pm
Ever wonder what times were like in the Civil War? Gain answers to these questions at the Gibraltar Historical Association’s (GHA’s) Civil War Encampment Weekend. The event will take place in the Fish Creek Park, located on Highway 42 across from the Fish Creek entrance to Peninsula State Park, on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15. Saturday’s events will take place from 9 am – 4 pm, and Sunday’s events will continue from 9 am – 3 pm.

The Gibraltar Historical Association announces the return of the Living History Event at Fish Creek Park after years of anticipation. The encampment consists of dedicated military and civilian reenactors from Company E of the Second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. The weekend’s schedule of realistic events includes touring the soldier and civilian camps, period clothing showings, Civil War medicine demonstrations, military drills, and firing demonstrations. This is a great family-friendly way to learn, experience, and participate in Civil War events firsthand.
Participation is requested through a donation, with all proceeds supporting the Gibraltar Historical Association. Visitors can tour the Alexander Noble House on Highway 42 and Main Street in Fish Creek. This season’s special exhibit is “Celebration” in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the historic home.
